#Encryption Key
10 Aug 2009 9:13 by : omerson

Hello,

I want to encrypt an id which is consisting of numericals.
And I want the encrypted id size to be as short as original id.
Can't I use shorter Encryption Key for this ?
(I tried to use shorter key but I got an error which tells key is not a valid size for the algorithm)
Or is there a way to get a shorter size encrypted Id ?

Thanks.

#issue with encrypted result which contains = ? / ...
03 Jun 2009 5:02 by : SROUSSI

Hi

In my site I am using the exactly same process, but I fell on a big problem.

The encoded string contains '='
So of course I do UrlEncode and get ABCD%3d
until there no problem.
Let's say my url is www.mysite.net/SomePage.aspx?reqest=ABCD%3d

But I am using a component which take the url as query string parameter in a different form (and doesn UrlEncode of it)

So it posts www.mysite.net/SomePage.aspx?thecomponentparam=www.mysite.com%2dSomePage.aspx%3frequest%3dABCD%3d

then the Request is UrlDecoded and the param becomes www.mysite.com/SomePage.aspx?request=ABCD=
!!!!

which doesnt correspond to the original url

Does Someone know a way to encrypt without getting those forbidden characters (=,?,/,...) in the encrypted reslut?

thanks

#Small bug when passing encrypted string as parameter
31 Jan 2009 3:37 by : DigiOz Multimedia

I want to point out a small bug I came across while testing your Encryption Class. Suppose we have the following:

Encryption Key: !5623a#de
String To Encrypt: Picture Upload
Encrypted Result: DGZLRNzmhuOkyyNpnvqO+g==

When you pass that string as a parameter and retrieve it on a different page, you get the following instead:

Retrieved Encrypted Parameter: DGZLRNzmhuOkyyNpnvqO g==

Notice the "+" sign missing from the encrypted string. This retrieved string will therefore not Decrypt correctly and gives you an empty string in return. There are other characters that behave in a similar manner.

To solve this problem, use the Server.URLEncode("Encrypted String") function before passing the encrypted string as a parameter.

Thanks,
Pete

Great work on this class. It was exactly what I was looking for.

#An excellent example that actually works
02 Jul 2008 12:59 by : leon

Thank you so much. Other DES examples I've found online(including one from MS) omitted the cs.FlushFinalBlock() call in the Decrypt method, resulting in truncated data. I've wasted 4 hours trying to troubleshoot it until I stumbled across your post. Thank you so much!
